Optional Practical Training (OPT) is temporary employment authorization for F-1 International Students to gain practical experience in their field of study. It allows Students to apply their academic knowledge in a real-world work setting. OPT can be used before or after graduation, but it must be directly related to your major.
As an OPT Student, you may no longer be eligible for your University "SHIP" insurance plan, but not yet be eligible for your employer's health insurance either. Our insurance plans are designed especially for OPT Students and budgets!
